In “Exploring the Faith of America’s Presidents”, you do the exploring. We supply the clues.

You are free to make up your own minds, to be moved by the words of our presidents, and to see connections between their words and the Bible verses provided. We spent the time painstakingly compiling the quotes, authenticating them, and choosing relevant Bible verses for each quote. We also provided questions to help you with your exploration—and to help you make sense of it all.

The news today is filled with stories that are highly charged emotionally. People have strong opinions about these subjects and get very focused on them. Naturally, the outcome of any one of them will seem like a victory to some and for others, they’ll feel like the sky is falling–like our nation is crumbling beneath them.

That’s where our book comes in. Exploring the Faith of America’s Presidents gives people a broader perspective.

Take a breath and step back. Look at our nation’s story as a whole, from beginning to present day. Look at what we have come through together as a people. Look at the storms we have weathered, figuratively and literally.

Kendra and I believe that the words of our presidents indicate what our nation was going through at any particular time. We were amazed as we gathered quotes at how many times the citizenry truly felt the nation was about to go under. And yet we didn’t. We made it through. Not only made it through but prospered and grew. And so, today, with all the turmoil we face, we remain One Nation, Under God, with Liberty and Justice for All.

“In this book you’ll see just what can happen when 69 Christian writers break their attachment to multi-syllable words and get back to the familiar words of childhood, simple words like brave, true, loyal, love, and joy.

Some of the stories you’ll find here are serious; some are not. Some might cause a slight smile or quiet chuckle to bubble to the surface; others might cause a laugh to shoot up like a grand old geyser. Some stories invite deep reflection; others just let you be. Some reveal much; others reveal little. Sometimes the creativity is subtle; other times it is easily seen.

In one way or another all of the stories are powerful. And with a few exceptions, their words are all one syllable.” Susan King
